Scone 200 Circular - 7 March 2026

We had lovely weather for our walk in Scone today.

The trail was developed by Perth and Kinross Council to mark the bicentenary of the village’s relocation.  In 1805, the Earl of Mansfield move the village 2 miles away to improve the privacy of Scone Palace, relocating the church and homes uphill.

On our first climb we observed MacDuff’s Folly: A monument featuring a seat and panoramic views, built before 1783.

The next hill featured Lynedoch Obelisk: Erected in 1853 to honour Lord Lynedoch.

When we stopped for a drink and snack by Lynedoch Obelish, we had lovely views and watched microlights taking off and landing from the small airport below. JM.  Photos by Ina G.
